The rain pounded against a nearby window but not as much as the pain that pounded inside her head.  She pulled herself up from the floor and onto a leather chair and glanced around her.  She appeared to be in a richly decorated study of some kind with shelves holding hundreds if not thousands of leather bound books on the walls.  A fire crackled in the fireplace to her left and flames cast a flickering light around the room.  The only other illumination was from a lamp sat atop a large desk on the other side of the room.
